AmeriCorps is committed to making its information accessible to individuals with disabilities by meeting or exceeding the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The Section 508 standards are the technical requirements and criteria agencies must meet to conform with this law. Under Section 508, federal agencies must give individuals with disabilities who seek services or information access to, and use of, information and data comparable to what is available to members of the public who do not have disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed upon the agency.
Similarly, federal agencies must give their employees with disabilities access to and use of information and data comparable to what is available to federal employees who do not have disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed.
The Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) requires access to facilities that are designed, built, altered, or leased with federal funds. The Access Board is the federal agency responsible for enforcing the ABA. The Access Board's accessibility standards are available on the US Access Board website.
