Project summary

The  ACC member will work on sustainable agriculture initiatives, promote local food systems, and advance our mission of empowering individuals and communities to bring about a sustainable and equitable future. The member will play an integral role in helping to develop and implement and executing sustainable agriculture programs and projects.

Opportunity description

Lead and execute sustainable agriculture initiatives at SW's demonstration site and community gardens, while also supporting the backyard garden program. Responsibilities include orienting and hosting volunteer groups, engaging in community outreach for off-site garden cultivation, and facilitating educational programming. Additionally, evaluate past plantings to optimize future plantings, collaborating with staff and volunteer coordinator to implement planting plans effectively.

Requirements and qualifications

Requirements

Ability to engage in physical labor, including standing for extended periods. Capability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects (~30lbs). Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Willingness to perform repetitive tasks associated with gardening and maintenance. Stamina and endurance to sustain productivity throughout the workday.

Preferred qualifications

Gardening and/or Agriculture experience. Good communication skills. Collaborative mindset. Organizational abilities. Passion for community engagement & equity. Adaptability & commitment to mission.
