This site is currently in beta and will grow along with the American Climate Corps.

The Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and AmeriCorps have created guidance and resources to promote national service as an option for all Americans, including those with disabilities.

AmeriCorps is committed to making our programs, benefits, services, and facilities, as well as information and communications technology accessible to everyone.

AmeriCorps is committed to strengthening and supporting full inclusion and equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in its programs and activities, through enforcement and compliance with requirements of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, including Section 504. If you have questions regarding program accessibility requirements, contact the Disability Program Manager by sending an email to: reasonableaccommodation@americorps.gov

Employees and applicants for federal employment who need to request a reasonable accommodation or personal assistance may contact the Disability Program Manager by sending an email to: reasonableaccommodation@americorps.gov.

Disability.gov(opens in new tab) is a comprehensive online resource designed to provide people with disabilities with quick and easy access to disability-related information and programs. The site includes information about benefits, civil rights, community life, education, employment, housing, health, technology and transportation. The website is managed by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), in partnership with 20 other federal agencies.

AmeriCorps is committed to making its information accessible to individuals with disabilities by meeting or exceeding the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The Section 508 standards are the technical requirements and criteria agencies must meet to conform with this law. To learn more about the technical standards or the regulations that govern accessibility of federal electronic information, visit section508.gov(opens in new tab).

Under Section 508, federal agencies must give individuals with disabilities who seek services or information access to, and use of, information and data comparable to what is available to members of the public who do not have disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed upon the agency.

Similarly, federal agencies must give their employees with disabilities access to and use of information and data comparable to what is available to federal employees who do not have disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed.

The Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) requires access to facilities that are designed, built, altered, or leased with federal funds. The Access Board is the federal agency responsible for enforcing the ABA. The Access Board's accessibility standards are available on the US Access Board website(opens in new tab).

If you believe that a physical facility that is designed, built, altered, or leased with federal funds by AmeriCorps does not comply with the ABA, refer to the US Access Board’s website under ABA Enforcement – File a Complaint(opens in new tab).

If you use assistive technology (e.g., a Braille reader, screen reader, TTY) and the format of any material on our website interferes with your ability to access the information, please contact AmeriCorps via the National Service Hotline at 1-800-942-2677, by online form(opens in new tab), or live chat(opens in new tab).
